Over 200 residents of Ibodi Community in Atakumosa-West Local Government Area, Osun State have benefitted from free medical treatments over the weekend.
The residents were screened for hypertension, diabetes and provision of free reading glasses.
The programme which was initiated by a public health physician in Osun state, Dr Olumuyiwa Oluyide also featured health talk for the residents.
Speaking about the significance of the programme, Dr Oluyide said would go a long way in giving the vulnerable and the downtrodden a sense that they are loved and care for.
“Many people meet their untimely death because they don’t have the wherewithal to take care of themselves when the need arises. It is important for us in the society to give back to the rural dwellers by identifying with them especially on their health.”
One of the beneficiaries, Prince Michael Adedeji lauded the initiative noting that, Dr Oluyide always bring his medical team to the community for free treatment and screening.
“He converted the family house of his father to the health post and that has been helping the resident of the community till date.”
