A 46-year-old woman identified as Omolara Solanke has been arrested for allegedly defrauding an aspirant vying to be an executive of a local government in Osun State in the forthcoming poll.
It was gathered that Omolara and five others assured the 48-year-old aspirant identified as Rasaq Salami who want to contest in the Osun State local government election of winning the election on the ground of preparing some spiritual assistant for him.
A source who confided in our correspondent disclosed that Salami(aspirant) was taken to Ekiti State where they took the Two million six hundred and eighty thousand naira only after which they failed to provide the spiritual substances nor make themselves available to his requests.
“Salami later lodge a complaint with the Anti-fraud unit of National Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) in Ekiti State and that led to the arrest of one Omolara Solanke and she was taken to Ekiti State for proper prosecution.”
The spokesperson of NSCDC, Osun State, Mr Daniel Adigun, in a statement on Tuesday confirmed the incident.
The statement read, “we arrested one Solanke Omolara who collected Two million six hundred and eighty thousand naira only along with five others now at large from the complainant named, Rasaq Salami, Male, 48, to help him to secure victory in the forthcoming local government election in Osun State.
“The complaint later reported the case to our men in Ekiti State because the money was collected there, the signal was sent to us and we tracked and arrested one of them, Omolara.
“The suspect was handed over to our men in Ekiti State by the NSCDC boss, Osun State, Commandant Emmanuel Ocheja for further investigation and possible prosecution.”
