The Osun State Police Command has commenced investigation into the circumstance surrounding the accident that claimed the life of a 24-year-old student of the Mass Communication department, Federal Polytechnic Offa named Taiwo Kajogbola.
POINT OUT gathered that Taiwo was travelling on bike along Osunjele road on Sunday when a police patrol vehicle allegedly knocked him down resulting in the death of the undergraduate.
In a video that went viral, sighted by our correspondent on Tuesday, the lifeless body of Taiwo was lying in the pool of blood on the road as some passersby were shouting and lamenting in Yoruba language, alleging that the police caused the death of the young man.
When the elder brother of the deceased, Mr Azeez Korede, was contacted, he confirmed his brother died in an accident on Sunday after a police patrol vehicle chased him to death along Osunjale.
“Taiwo was a student of Mass Communication department of Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara state before his death. We have buried him according to Islamic rites on Monday and we are not ready to pursue the cause of his death, we have accepted the fate.”
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, stated that the state commissioner, Mr Wale Olokode had directed that the matter be thoroughly investigated for justice to prevail.
