…As legislator Supports Farmers with Fertilizer and Pesticides worth millions of naira
Olufi United Football club of Gbongan has won the first Edition of Hon Taiwo Oluga Constituency Football Competition.
Olufi United Club wallowed Diamond football Club of Isokan with 3 goals to non to clinch victory in the finals played on the football pitch of Saint Patrick Grammar School, Gbongan, Ayedaade Local Government, Osun State.
The first goal came 5 minutes into the first half of the match through Adewole Emmanuel jersey number 10, Adekunle Fafouk jersey number 11 net the second goal through a penalty kick, while the third goal came 30 minutes into the second half through jersey number 8 striker.
The competition was put together by a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Taiwo Oluga, representing Irewole/Ayedaade/Isokan Federal Constituency of Osun State for her constituents.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Sport, Aremo Adegboyega Adelabu, Chairman of Grassroot football Association, leaders of the APC in the federal constituency, the Chief Whip of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. ‘Tunde Olatunji were among dignatories who joined Hon Taiwo Oluga as she kicked the ball to signal commencement of the match at about 3 o’clock in the afternoon.
Presenting the Trophy to the winner, Hon Taiwo Oluga assured that the programme which was aimed at discovering and harnessing young talents in the area, would be an annual event.
The Legislator appealed to young people to stay away from drug use and addiction and use their youthful energy for productive engagement,particularly sport which has become an economically dependable adventure.
Earlier, the Football Association Chairman in Ayedaade Local Government, Otunba Wale Adefowope thanked the legislator for setting up the annual football competition, but appealed to her to assist in projecting bundling sport talents in the area.
Before the football event, Hon Taiwo Oluga had distributed pesticides and organic fertilizers to farmers across all the communities making the federal constituency.
Distributing the materials in her situation office in Gbongan, the legislator harped on the need to embark of farming in commercial quantity,saying the global reality does no longer support any nation with mono product economy.
Hon Oluga said with the challenge in the oil sector globally and the menace of climate change, people must take farming more serious than every to guarantee food sufficiency and sustainable development.
Some of the leaders of the various farmers group lauded the support of the lawmaker, as they reeled out the various types of support they still required, including finance and equipment.
