Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has said when he was sworn in as governor, some people, who took cognizance of the economic condition of the state then, thought he would be grounded in running the affairs of the state. He said he has so far been able to sustain the state.
Oyetola made this disclosure while receiving the Hon Simon Adebayo-led newly elected executives of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Osun State chapter in the governor’s office, Abere.
The Commissioner for Political Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations, Hon Taiwo Akeju, who received the IPAC executives on behalf of Governor Oyetola said, “Oyetola is touching every sector; he has improved the economy of the state. He paid the salary of the state promptly even ahead of the Federal Government. People thought the state has been ripped off before he was sworn in as the governor and that he will be grounded during his administration. But because of his experience in the business world and sacrifices, he was able to sustain the state in payment of salaries and carrying out infrastructural development.
Earlier, the IPAC chairman, Hon Simon Adebayo, demanded that Oyetola should provide a secretariat and a bus for the council.
He said, “We would like to appeal for the provision of a secretariat for IPAC. The integrity of a body like IPAC is grounded when there is no physical structure where correspondence and feedback can be generated and accessed. We do not just want to be floating around; with a secretariat, we will be able to administer our operational duties with ease and comfort.”
Adebayo assured that criticism from the members will be constructive and not destructive, noting that they may not always agree on every style of governance of the ruling party.
