A 79-year-old man, named, Charles Okoye on Wednesday was remanded in Ilesha Corrections by Magistrate Ishola Omishade of Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo for impersonating as Assistant Commissioner of Police in a police station in the state.
The police prosecutor, Kayode Adeoye, said on February 20 at about 8:30 PM at Dugbe police station falsely presenting himself as an ACP in other to get free accommodation at Dugbe police station.
“Okoye was a resident of Abuja who had been going about police Stations in the States to get free accommodation in police stations. He came to Dugbe Police Station and presented himself as ACP, requesting accommodation. The Divisional Police Officer saluted him and ordered that he should be given accommodation. But he was later caught.”
He noted that the offence contravened sections 484, 249(D) of Criminal Code Cap 34 vol 11 Laws of Osun state of Nigeria, 2002.
The septuagenarian pleaded guilty to the two counts slammed against him.
The magistrate requested for the fact of the matter but the prosecutor informed him that he was not with it.
Magistrate Omisade remanded Okoye to Ilesha Corrections and adjourned the matter to March 1st, 2021 for the presentation of fact.
