The New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP) has warned the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) not to use its factional problem to cause political violence in the state.
The party through its chairman, Mr Tosin Odeyemi, in a statement also cautioned the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola not to come to Osun State and make a statement that is capable of causing political violence in the state.
The party Chairman berated Aregbesola over a statement he made over the weekend after he revalidated his membership in APC.
POINTOUT NEWS reports that Aregbesola while addressing his supporters at Ward 8 in Ifofin, Ilesha alleged that the influx of leaders, members of opposition PDP and other political parties to APC allowed killers and murderers to join APC.
The chairman said the statement could provoke a political crisis in the state, urging the Minister to act as a former Governor of the state and allow peace reign. He added that “the state has enough economic crisis to battle than for APC party to allow its factional crisis escalate into political violence.”
Subsequently, a statement by a former minority leader of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Akinwale Akinwole on Monday said the Minister, Aregbesola should stop being jealous of the growth in APC as a result of the revalidation and registration exercise of the party which has made some leaders and members of the opposition party to join.
He sai, Aregbesola should stop feeling threatened by the defection of Senator Iyiola Omisore into APC saying, “he should wake up from political slumber.”
He held that Omisore’s presence in APC will expose Aregbesola’s spoiler game, noting that, ‘Senator Omisore will lead Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s campaign in Ife land, he will support, mobilize people of Ife land to vote massively for his reelection when the time comes.”
“I will advise the ex-governor Aregbesola to stop being jealous of Omisore because he’s a politician to compete within Osun State. The calibre of people Senator Omisore will bring into APC are top-notch. Aregbesola should stop feeling threatened because Omisore has come and will expose all his spoiler game against the reelection of Governor Oyetola.
