Kwara State Government has declared a 24-hour curfew in Ilorin metropolis starting from midnight today Oct. 23 due to the situation in the state.
This was announced on statewide broadcast made by the Governor, Abdul-Rahman AbdulRazaq on Friday night.
The Governor said, an emergency security meeting has been made with heads of various security agencies, traditional rulers and other students bodies in the state to assess the situation in the state.
He further said, the act committed by the residents cannot be defended under any guise as it is pure act of criminality. Some persons are hiding under the nationwide tension to commit crimes.
“Lives are being threatened. Businesses are being looted. Public properties have been targeted. This is unacceptable”.
While the curfew is on, security forces have been placed on the alert to maintain strict compliance. He urge citizens to comply by this declaration which is meant to protect lives and properties.
